Norman Spector has an extensive background in politics, law and media. He has been a university lecturer and a government policy analyst and has served in various senior posts at both the provincial and federal government level. Spector was Chief of Staff to Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, Canadian Ambassador to Israel, High Commissioner to Cyprus, President of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and publisher of The Jerusalem Post.
He is a syndicated columnist in newspapers across Canada, including The Vancouver Sun, The Times Colonist and The Globe and Mail, writing on national and British Columbia issues and on the Middle East. Spector appears regularly on CBC Newsworld and is also on a political specialist for Right On, The New VI’s weekly one-hour look at political issues, seen in Victoria and the Lower Mainland.
Born in Montreal, Spector received his BA from McGill University and his Master’s Ph.D degrees in Public Law and Government from Columbia University. He speaks English, French and Hebrew and has knowledge of Russian and Arabic.
